Homestead Tax ExemptionThe Homestead exemption program brings property tax relief to homeowners age 65 and older and the permanently disabled. There are no longer any income requirements, but newly eligible recipients (those turning 65 any time during the calendar year) must sign up at their local County Auditor's office during the application period l Applications can be submitted after the first Monday in January and on or before the first Monday in June. l Current homestead recipients do not need to reapply unless they have moved or had some change in their status. l An applicant must own and reside in the home for which they are applying.
